Irish director Lorcan Finnegan is one of a small selection of filmmakers set to present their projects to investors at the second edition of Cannes Marché du Film’s Investors Circle. His latest film The Surfer will premiere at the Cannes Film festival.
Lorcan Finnegan is among 10 directors selected to present their upcoming feature projects at the Cannes Marché du Film’s Investors Circle 2024. This is the second edition of the new initiative. Finnegan will present his next feature project following The Surfer.
The event takes place on May 19, and is aimed at connecting international feature film projects with film financiers and ‘high-net worth individuals’ who want to invest in cinema. The Marché du Film did not give details of the projects being showcased.
Other directors selected for the initiative include Ruben Östlund (Triangle of Sadness), Chie Hayakawa (Plan 75), Nadav Lapid (Ahed’s Knee), Laura Samani (Small Body), Rakhshan Banietemad (The Blue-Veiled), Uta Beria (Negative Numbers), Teodora Ana Mihai (La Civil), Agnieszka Smoczyńska (The Lure) and Jorge Thielen Armand (Fortitude)
Lorcan Finnegan’s latest film, The Surfer, is a psychological thriller starring Nicolas Cage. The film has been officially selected by Cannes Film Festival, and will premiere as part of the festival’s Midnight Screenings strand. The film is described as follows: “When a man returns to his beach side hometown in Australia, he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local gang of surfers who claim strict ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood.”
