WFT Ireland
WFT Ireland have announced that Bríd Ní Neachtain and Cleona Ní Chrualaoi will be the Guests of Honour at the WFT Ireland Members Short Film Showcase 2023.

The Women in Film and Television Ireland Members Showcase 2023 takes place tomorrow evening at the IFI, showcasing a series of short films. This year WFT Ireland welcomes two guests of honour to the showcase, actor Bríd Ní Neachtain (Róise & Frank) and Cleona Ní Chrualaoi (An Cailín Ciúin).

Bríd Ní Neachtain is an Irish actress celebrated for her performances in film and television. Ní Neachtain has performed in numerous Irish and international productions, most recently in Róise & Frank, and The Banshees of Inisherin. Her performance in the former won her the IFTA for Best Lead Actress. Until the 1990s she featured on TG4’s soap, Ros na Rún. She is a former board member of Irish language broadcaster TG4.

Cleona Ní Chrualaoi was selected as one of Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow and won the Film & Drama Award at the Tatler Women of the Year Awards in 2022. As a Producer, her feature film debut, An Cailín Ciúin, was nominated for two BAFTAs and an Academy Award for Best International Feature in 2023. From dramas to documentaries, Cleona’s work continues to leave a lasting impression.

“The Short Film Showcase 2023 is our flagship event and we’re delighted to have the work of our talented members spotlighted in the IFI once again,” said Dr Susan Liddy, Chair of WFT Ireland and President of Women in Film and Television International. “The IFI have hosted us for the past six years and every year the programme gets stronger and more impactful. The night is a wonderful opportunity for Irish female talent to be centre stage.”

“All the shorts are directed by women and many of the other roles also have women in key positions. Apart from the films and the awards, the night is a sparkling, fun affair with filmmakers, film lovers, friends, family and guests coming together in an act of celebration. There’s a reception afterwards in the IFI foyer where you can mingle and chat to the filmmakers about their work. This year we’re delighted to welcome special guests Bríd Ní Neachtain, IFTA Award-winning actor and Cleona Ní Chrualaoi, Academy-Award nominated Producer.”
