Causeway Pictures Selected for the 7th Aestethica Short Film Festival (ASFF)
29 Sep 2017 : Nathan Griffin
Belfast filmmakers ‘Causeway Pictures’ have been selected to screen their short ‘Safe Haven’, at this year’s Aesthetica Short Film Festival.

Martin Stalker, director of the film will represent Northern Ireland at this year’s event. Northern Ireland Screen and British Film Institute (BFI) provided funding for ‘Safe Haven’ as part of their ‘Shorts to Features’ program.

'Safe Haven' features actors Bronagh Taggert (The Fall), Brenda McNeill, Luke Walford, and Sid Ralph. Produced by Margaret McGoldrick and Chris Patterson, and written by Spence Wright

The film follows the story of Zoran, a 12 year old kid living in Belfast who finds himself trapped at home with his elderly neighbor when a volcanic ash cloud engulfs Belfast City. But this ash cloud is like no other - it carries a virulent contagion that transforms those exposed into feral, black-oozing monstrosities. With the outside world fast descending into chaos and his neighbor beginning to succumb to the virus, Zoran will soon discover that when the ash descends there are no safe havens.
