Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan is nominated for Best Soap Actor, Best Soap Newcomer and Best Soap Storyline for his part in Channel 4’s ‘Hollyoaks’. The awards will take place on September 13th 2011 and voting is now open to the public on the TV choice website at
TV Soap Awards.
The Dublin born actor plays the role of bad boy Brendan Brady in the English soap. His role began in the soap in August 2010 and his character is currently involved in a homosexual domestic abuse storyline with Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson). Emmett J. Scanlan was also cast as the title character in Terry McMahon’s ‘Charlie Casanova’ for which he was awarded Best Film Actor Award at the ECU European Independent Film Festival in April 2011. ‘Charlie Casanova’ will be screened at the Galway Film Fleadh on Saturday July 9th.
Other Irish nominees include ‘The Graham Norton Show’ for BBC1 in the category of Best Entertainment Show. ‘The Graham Norton Show’ won a BAFTA for Best Entertainment Performance back in May 2011 at the awards ceremony which he also hosted.
