The first look at Abigail, starring Alisha Weir, has been released. The screenplay was written by Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground), and the production filmed in Ireland for two months.
First announced in May of last year, the title of Universal’s untitled monster thriller has been revealed along with first look images and a trailer. Abigail stars Alisha Weir (Matilda: The Musical) in a new horror film from directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream VI) and screenwriter Stephen Shields (The Hole in the Ground) with revisions from Guy Busick (Ready or Not).
Abigail follows a group of criminals who kidnap the ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure. They retreat to an isolated mansion, unaware that they're locked inside with a little vampire girl.
Weir plays the titular vampire Abigail, and is joined by Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Dan Stevens (The Guest), Kevin Durand (I Am Number Four), Kathryn Newton (Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania), Angus Cloud (Euphoria), Will Catlett (A Thousand and One), and Giancarlo Esposito (Better Call Saul).
Chad Villella, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein are producing for Radio Silence, and James Vanderbilt is producing for Project X Entertainment. Tripp Vinson is also producing.
Abigail releases in US cinemas on 19 April, the Irish release date is TBA.
