05 Oct 2023 : News Desk
Barry Keoghan and Austin Butler will star in Masters of The Air, an Apple TV+ limited series executive produced by Steven Spielberg and based on Donald L. Miller’s book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany.

Apple TV+ have released first look images at the upcoming limited series Masters of the Air, starring Barry Keoghan (The Killing of a Sacred Deer) and Austin Butler (Elvis). The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg and based on the World War II nonfiction book Masters of the Air: America’s Bomber Boys Who Fought the Air War Against Nazi Germany by Donald L. Miller.

Masters of the Air is a nine-part series that will follow the true story of eleven men inside a bomber known as a ‘Flying Fortress’ battling flocks of German fighters. Keoghan and Butler are joined by Callum Turner (War & Peace), Anthony Boyle (Tolkien), Nate Mann (Licorice Pizza), and Rafferty Law (Repo Men).

Apple acquired the project in 2019, which had been in development at HBO since 2013. The series was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga (Beasts of No Nation), Anna Boden (Half Nelson), Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson), Dee Rees (Mudbound), and Timothy Van Patten (Boardwalk Empire). John Orloff (Band of Brothers) adapted Donald L. Miller’s book for the screen.

The series will debut its first two episodes in January, with subsequent weekly installments running until March 15th. Spileberg is executive producing for Amblin Television, along with Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone. Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey (Amblin Television) are co-executive producing alongside Steven Shareshian (Playtone). Screenwriter Orloff, and Graham Yost also serve as co-executive producers.

Masters of the Air premieres January 26th on Apple TV+.
