Radharc Award Winning Documentary 'Syria: The Impossible Revolution' to Broadcast on RTÉ One
02 Nov 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Following its win at the Radharc Award last week the Irish produced international feature documentary ‘Syria - The Impossible Revolution’ will be broadcast next week on RTE 1 - Tuesday, November 6th.

This news comes as the film takes part in the Paris Lift-Off Film Festival this week and where it is being screened.

Speaking about the project, Director Ronan Tynan told IFTN:

‘Unravelling the alleged complexity of the Syrian conflict was our primary aim, and given the reaction we continue to receive that mission appears to have been accomplished in the eyes of many in different parts of the world. But unless we are moved to raise our voices to defend civilians still under fire or held in brutal torture prisons will anything change?’

Produced by award winning filmmakers Ronan Tynan and Anne Daly this unique award winning documentary is the first film of its kind to address the challenging roots and history of Syria’s 2011 peaceful uprising and how it turned into a revolution when the regime responded with extreme violence including gunning down peaceful protesters who flooded the streets as part of the Arab Spring.

The film unravels the complexity of Syria looking at the rise of jihadis, the role of foreign powers and how civilians have been ignored as the country turned into the world’s worst human catastrophe and site of some of the most egregious crimes against humanity of our time.

‘Syria: The Impossible Revolution’ will air on RTÉ One next Tuesday, November 6th.
