Following the film’s World Premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, Searchlight Pictures have released the official trailer for Kinds of Kindness, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, starring Emma Stone, and produced by Element Pictures.
Shot in New Orleans in 2022, Kinds of Kindness is the latest film from Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos. This marks Lanthimos’ fifth collaboration with Irish production company Element Pictures, and his fourth with actor Emma Stone. The screenplay was co-written by Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou (The Lobster, The Killing of a Sacred Deer), and developed by Element Pictures and Film4.
The film is described as a “triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”
Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe produced the film for Element Pictures alongside Kasia Malipan and Lanthimos. Ollie Madden and Daniel Battsek are executive producing for co-financier Film4.
The film's cast consists of Poor Things stars Margaret Qualley and Willem Dafoe, The Favourite actor Joe Alwyn, as well as Jesse Plemons (Killers of the Flower Moon), Hong Chau (The Whale), and Hunter Schafer (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).
Plemons received the Best Actor award at Cannes Film Festival for portraying three characters in Kinds of Kindness; a struggling police officer, a cult member, and a man whose every action is controlled by his boss.
Kinds of Kindness will be released in Irish cinemas on June 28th, 2024.
