Production has begun on the Netflix adaptation of Richard Osman’s hit novel, The Thursday Murder Club, which released to great acclaim and popularity in 2020.
The story follows a group of friends in a retirement home who gather to solve murders for fun, but find themselves caught in a real case. The four members of the club are played by Mirren (ex-spy Elizabeth), Kingsley (ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim), Brosnan (former union activist Ron), and Imrie (ex-nurse Joyce).
The series is written and directed by Chris Columbus, with Jennifer Todd producing alongside Columbus. The series is executive produced by Holly Bario, Jeb Brody, Eleanor Columbus, Jo Burn, and Richard Osman.
Alongside Mirren and Brosnan, the cast features Sir Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie, Naomi Ackie, Daniel Mays, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Richard E. Grant, Geoff Bell, Ingrid Oliver, and Paul Freeman
This is the latest film to be produced as part of Netflix and Amblin’s film partnership, which also includes the upcoming Carry-On starring Jason Bateman and Taron Egerton.
The Thursday Murder Club will release on Netflix in 2025.
