WestEnd are screening the documentary helmed by ‘The Pervert’s Guide To Cinema’ director Sophie Fiennes at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
Producers are Fiennes, Katie Holly of Blinder Films, Shani Hinton and Beverly Jones, while executive producers are Émilie Blézat., James Wilson and Francesca Von Hapsburg.
The title is currently in post production following a project timeline of over five years exploring the public and private life of the performer.
Now in her late sixties, the Jamaican singer, songwriter, model, record producer, and actress has influenced such artists as Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna with her distinctive androgynous appearance, clothing and manner.
Blinder Films previously brought the title to the European Film Market in Berlin last February.
Sophie Fiennes, Director/Producer:
“This film began in a collaborative creative spirit. Grace had fiercely controlled her public image, but made the bold decision to un-mask. She never sought to control my shooting process, and I didn’t second-guess the narrative of the film as I was shooting. I just gathered evidence. The film is a deliberately present-tense experience; for me this is the thrill-ride of verité cinema.”
