Film in Limerick Nominated for Makers & Shakers Awards
29 Nov 2023 : News Desk
Paul C. Ryan, Regional Film Manager at Film in Limerick
Film in Limerick have been nominated in the Film Commission Initiative of the Year category at the Makers & Shakers Awards, which will take place next week.

For the second time in three years, Film in Limerick is nominated for the international Makers & Shakers Awards, which takes place at BAFTA in London next week.

The awards celebrate excellence across screen content production worldwide and shine a spotlight on the work of film industry support services who have made a significant impact on the industry through creativity, innovation and ground-breaking initiatives in the past year.

Innovate Limerick, through Film in Limerick, has been nominated in the Film Commission Initiative of the Year category. The panel recognised Film in Limerick’s impact on developing new talent through training initiatives run with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board and the Crew Academy initiative, run in partnership with Screen Ireland.

“It is fantastic for the region to be nominated again for these awards, and to be nominated in the same category as major European centres of production such as London and Paris, huge cities such as Miami and Colorado and with even Portugal in the mix,” said Paul C. Ryan, Regional Film Manager at Film in Limerick.

“What a reflection of the hard work of local crews, producers and our stakeholders, funders and champions to develop film production here in the regions. We have so much film talent in the Mid-West and the sector is growing rapidly. 2023 has been the busiest year ever for film production in the region and we look forward to a busy 2024, with several locally produced feature films and TV series premiering."

The winners, decided by an industry panel, will be revealed at the live Awards Ceremony taking place at BAFTA in London next week.
