Robert Sheehan
Irish actor Robert Sheehan and Irish presenter Graham Norton are among the nominees announced today, April 26th for this year's British Academy Television Awards. The former has been shortlisted in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his role as Nathan in 'Misfits' whilst Brendan O'Carroll's 'Mrs Brown's Boys' has been nominated in the category of Siuation Comedy and award show host, Graham Norton is nominated in the category of Entertainment Performance for 'The Graham Norton Show' more
SUBMISSIONS | RTÉ Lifestyle seeks Autumn Programming Proposals

RTÉ Lifestyle is currently seeking program proposals for its Autumn broadcast line-up. Ideas are currently being sought for six time-slots including a 6 x 26 show with cross-platform potential; docu-soaps that could play at 7:00pm mid-week and a new multi-media format for RTÉ Two which will show weekdays, post-watershed. The proposal deadline is Tuesday, May 10th. more
PRODUCTION | New Feature, 'The Shadows' to Shoot in August
Emu Productions are currently in pre-production with 'The Shadows', a new feature set to shoot in Dublin and Meath in August. The modern fairytale will star Michael Parle (Our Wonderful Home), Emma Eliza Regan (The Fading Light) and Natalia Kostrzewa (The Looking Glass). more

Anne Bushnell
Stage and screen actress, Anne Bushnell died on Thursday, April 21st at the age of 72 following a battle with cancer. The Irish personality was diagnosed with cancer eight months ago and died peacefully in Tallaght Hospital. more

ANIMATION| 'Punky' and 'Gumball' Arrive on TV Screens
Irish animation will be brought even more to the fore on television screens from next week with the launch of Boulder Media's new 40 x 11 minute 2D and 3D series, 'The Amazing World of Gumball' on The Cartoon Network on Monday, May 2nd and Monster Animation's 20 x 7 minute series, 'Punky' on Tuesday, May 3rd.more
EVENTS | IFTA hosts 'Borgias' Preview with Neil Jordan Q&A
As part of a new series of screenings entitled First Tuesdays, the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) will host a series of preview screenings in Dublin's IFI on the first Tuesday of every month. Tuesday, May 3rd will see a special preview of the first two episodes of Neil Jordan's new historical drama, 'The Borgias'. The screening of the series, illustrating the lives of the notorious 15th century Borgias dynasty, will be followed by a Q&A with creator/director Neil Jordan and producer James Flynn. more
INDUSTRY |BAI Publishes Product Placement Decisions
The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) yesterday, April 27th published the revised General and Children's Commercial Communications Codes previously announced in March. The revised code details will come in to effect from Monday, May 2nd and will see paid product placement permitted on Irish television. more
CINEMA | June 10th Irish Release for 'The Runway'
Ian Power's IFTA winning feature, 'The Runway' is to have a limited nationwide release from Friday, June 10th. The feature is being distributed by Element Pictures Distribution and will screen in various cinemas nationwide.more
PRE-PRODUCTION | Big Mountain in Prep with 'Mastercrafter'
2011 marks the national Year of Craft here in Ireland and with the estimated value of domestic sales and exports of crafts set to rise from €498m to €703.5m, Big Mountain Productions are currently in pre-production with 'Mastercrafter', a 6 x 52 minute series that will seek to crown the cream of Ireland's master craftspeople.more
DIGITAL | Storyland Semi-Final Voting Now Open
The latest episodes from the four RTÉ Storyland semi-finalists have been uploaded on the Storyland site and online voting for the projects has commenced. Votes will be tallied for the four remaining projects, 'Rent a Friend'; 'Lucky Run'; 'The Outlaw Concy Ryan' and 'The Last Security Man' until Tuesday, May 2nd where the compeition's finalists will be announced. more

Feature documentary, 'Munster Rugby: A Limerick Love Affair' from first time director Ronan Cassidy will broadcast on Sunday, May 1st. The documentary profiles the Limerick rugby community and its relationship with the Munster team and features interviews with Liam Toland, Paul Warwick and Padraic O'Brien and many others. more

Irish actor Jonas Armstrong (Robin Hood) is currently shooting 'Twenty8k', a new feature which centres on London's underground gangland culture. The feature's six week shoot commenced in early April in various locations around London and sees Jonas starring alongside Parminder Nagra (Bend it Like Beckham) and Stephen Dillane (The Hours). more

FÁS Screen Training Ireland and the Irish Film Board have joined to offer one writer and one director from Ireland to participate in the upcoming edition of the British filmmaking mentor programme, Guiding Lights. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, May 4th. more
FESTIVALS | Irish Film Festival Round Up
The Bealtaine Festival, will take place from the 1st to the 31st of May. The festival, aimed at older audiences will launch on May 4th, will feature special screenings of 'Julie and Julia' and 'Showboat' alongside Irish shorts. In other news, the second annual Lightbox International and Irish Animation Festival will take place from the 6th to the 8th of May. more

Home entertainment and communications company UPC has announced that it has appointed Carat Ireland as its media buying agency for the next three years. Four of Ireland's leading agencies, Initiative Media, Mindshare, Starcom and Carat Ireland, pitched for the contract with Carat Ireland ultimately winning the tender process. more
