Ahead of Nocebo’s theatrical release across Irish and UK cinemas this Friday, a new trailer has been launched for Nocebo, Irish director Lorcan Finnegan's new psychological horror.
Starring Eva Green and Mark Strong, Nocebo follows-up Finnegan’s last thriller Vivarium, which featured Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg and BIFA winner Imogen Poots. The film follows a fashion designer (Eva Green) who is suffering from a mysterious illness that puzzles her doctors and frustrates her husband (Mark Strong). Help arrives in the form of Diana, a Filipino carer (Chai Fonacier) who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrifying truth.
Wildcard Distribution and Vertigo Releasing will launch Nocebo in Irish and UK cinemas on December 9th.
Nocebo is directed by IFTA winning filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium), written by Finnegan’s frequent collaborator Garret Shanley, and produced by Brunella Cocchiglia for Lovely Productions and Emily Leo for Wild Swim Films, in co-production with Bianca Balbuena and Bradley Liew of Epicmedia.
The film is a co-production between Ireland and the Philippines with support from Screen Ireland and the Film Development Council of the Philippines. Nocebo was released in US cinemas last month by RLJ Entertainment.
Vertigo Releasing acquired the rights from XYZ Films, who are handling international sales and are also executive producers and financiers for the film. Vertigo’s Edward Caffrey and Tatyana Joffe of XYZ Films negotiated the deal. Lorcan Finnegan is represented by Independent Talent Group and XYZ Films.
“We are thrilled to be bringing Nocebo to UK and Irish audiences. Lorcan Finnegan has established himself as a truly exciting filmmaker, and we are very pleased to have the opportunity to work together again following Vertigo’s release of Vivarium,” said Vertigo Releasing’s Head of Acquisitions, Ed Caffrey. “The central performances from Eva Green and Mark Strong combine to create a truly memorable cinema experience.”
Wildcard Distribution will bring the film to Irish cinemas on Friday, December 9th.
