Irish actors Colm Meaney, Pauline McLynn, and Damien Molony join Charlie Murphy and Jack Gleeson in Safe Harbor, a new action thriller series from Ozark co-creator Mark Williams.
Several actors have joined the cast of Safe Harbor, an upcoming Dutch-Belgian thriller series from Ozark co-creator Mark Williams. Pauline McLynn (Father Ted), Damien Molony (Crashing), Charlotte Timmers (Billie vs. Benjamin) and Daniel Lapaine (Black Mirror) will join the previously announced cast that includes Irish actors Charlie Murphy (Love/Hate) and Jack Gleeson (In The Land of Saints and Sinners), as well as Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones) and emerging Dutch actor Martijn Lakemeier in a starring role.
Safe Harbor follows hacker Tobias (Allen) and his ambitious best friend Marco (Lakemeier), who are intent on cracking into the tech billionaires club. They are plucked from obscurity and plunged headfirst into organised crime when they cross paths with the Irish mob. Leading the family’s operations in Holland are Sloane (Murphy) and her brother Farrell (Gleeson), who enlist their services to hack into the security system of Rotterdam harbour, Europe’s largest shipping port, to secure the undetected deliveries of drug shipments.
As well as writing and showrunning, Williams will produce the series through his Zero Gravity label alongside Germany’s Night Train and the Netherlands’ Submarine.
Filming commenced in the fall of 2023 and the series is set to release in late 2024. Writing has already begun for the show’s second season.
Night Train Media is financing the show and will handle worldwide distribution rights. Williams and Submarine’s Femke Wolting are executive producers alongside Night Train’s Herbert L. Kloiber, James Copp and Adam Barth. Sales are being handled by Eccho Rights.
Safe Harbor is supported by Creative Europe, ScreenFlanders and the Netherlands Film Fund. The series was commissioned by and developed with Dutch broadcaster Videoland.
Arne Toonen (Amsterdam Vice) is directing, along with Williams and Belgian directing team Norman Bates.
Williams’ Zero Gravity banner has also produced Liam Neeson vehicles Blacklight, Honest Thief and The Marksman.
