Irish screenwriter Fergal Rock's feature script ‘Arrivals’ will film in South Africa this winter.
Starring ‘Ender's Game's’ Asa Butterfield, ‘Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams and The Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev the indie drama from BCDF Pictures and Kalahari Film and Media will be directed by Peter Hutchings (The Outskirts).
Butterfield will play an American college dropout, working as a baggage handler in Cape Town, who happens to be a hypochondriac. He is forced to confront his fears when an unconventional British teen with a terminal illness, to be played by Williams, enlists him to help her carry out her eccentric bucket list.
Fergal is a past winner of the BlueCat Screenplay Contest and a semi-finalist of both the American Zoetrope Screenplay Contest and Academy Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Competition. He has written and directed three short films: the RTE/Filmbase funded ‘Tom Waits Made Me Cry’ (2004) and the independently produced ‘Henry & Sunny’ (2009) and ‘On Our Way’ (2012). He currently writes for RTÉ One’s prime time soap opera, Fair City, which was recently nominated for four IFTA Television Awards.
