Horror classic ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ to be remade
The cult classic horror film ‘Jacob’s Ladder’, starring Tim Robbins and directed by Adrian Lyne, is to be remade with Mickey Liddell’s LD Entertainment financing the project. According to Heat Vision, Michael Gaeta and Alison Rosenzweig are producing the remake, with Liddell also producing alongside Jennifer Monroe. Jake Wade Well (When a Stranger Calls) penned an early draft and now, screenwriter Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train) has signed on to rewrite the script. The original 1990 film followed a tortured Vietnam War veteran (Robbins) who returns home and attempts to put the horrors of war behind him, but begins experiencing nightmarish visions during his waking hours. Producers of the remake are looking to update the cult classic, and are said to be aiming for an homage rather than a direct retread. The producers are now out to directors. Gaeta and Rosenzweig were executive producer and producer, respectively, on the 2011 remake of ‘Fright Night’ which starred Irish actor Colin Farrell as the suburban vampire. The duo is also developing a remake of the 1987 Mickey Rourke-Lisa Bonet thriller ‘Angel Heart’.

Release date for the soundtrack to ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ announced
One of my most anticipated films of this year is undoubtedly Joel and Ethan Coen’s folk music drama ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’. The film follows a young folk singer, played by Oscar Isaac, as he navigates the Greenwich Village folk music scene in New York in 1961. The film received extremely positive feedback at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and it also promises to highlight some impressive musical numbers from the film’s talented ensemble. Nonesuch Records recently announced that the soundtrack for ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’ will hit stores on September 17th, and they’ve also revealed the full tracklist for the record. Produced by T Bone Burnett and the Coen brothers, the soundtrack features performances by actors Oscar Isaac, Justin Timberlake, Carey Mulligan, and Adam Driver, as well as Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons fame, and a previously unreleased recording from Bob Dylan. The soundtrack also contains a rendition of Brendan Behan’s ‘The Auld Triangle’, performed by Chris Thile, Chris Eldridge, Marcus Mumford, Justin Timberlake, Gabe Witcher. The film will hit Irish screens early next year. To view the full track listing, visit Nonesuch.com.

Watch the trailer for ‘Prisoners’, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal
Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for director Denis Villeneuve’s (Incendies) dramatic thriller Prisoners. The film stars Hugh Jackman as a working-class Boston father who sets out to track down the man he believes is responsible for kidnapping his daughter and her friend. Along the way, he runs up against the big city detective (Jake Gyllenhaal) assigned to the case. The film also stars Paul Dano, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, and Viola Davis. ‘Prisoners’ opens and October 20th in the UK.
