Bridgetown is located in Castletown Roche, has a cloister, kitchens, refectory, chapter house and church. Its ruins, now extensively restored, are open to visitors all year around.
Cape Clear Island is Ireland's most southerly island. It is a 45min boat trip from Baltimore or Schull in West Cork. The island is 3 miles long and 1.5 miles wide and has a population of 120 persons.
The attractive village of Castletownshend is situated on the coast about 8km from Skibbereen. The village developed around the castle, which was built in the mid 1600s by the Townshends and is the seat of the family.
The design of the church is an open plan cone shaped building with the altar placed at the apex of the cone and the roof sloping towards the sanctuary. The church was opened for worship on June 10th, 1962.
