This position was confirmed last February by the Observatory of Culture in Spain, a prestigious foundation that every year conducts surveys to find the most beloved and respected cultural institutions: Seminci was in the 26th position in a list in which only San Sebastián Film Festival appears in the top 15.

This course is a primer in directing. An introduction to all the main aspects of directing is combined with practical exercises in shooting to give an overview and experience of the basics – the practical knowledge you need in order to direct films. You will be guided through the process of preparation, taking in all the major departments that come together to make a film possible. In addition to practical exercises, all participants will shoot and crew short scenes.
Course Content:
During the course students will write and redraft a short scene. In week six, each student directs a small crew and cast, and shoots the scene on digital video using a Sony Z1.
Introduction to the role and responsibilities of the director
Introduction to crew roles
Overview of technology and workflow.
Script readings and dialogue analysis
Storyboarding
Translating the screenplay into visuals.
Development of visual style with D.o.P and art director
Understanding shot descriptions, framing and composition

Filmbase are delighted to announce The Actors’ Intensive with LA actor Kirk Baltz. Kirk is a working actor since the late 1980’s and infamously played the part the tortured police officer, Marvin Nash, in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs.
Kirk has also worked with directors including Oliver Stone (Natural Born Killers), John Woo (Face/Off), Warren Beatty (Bulworth) and Kevin Costner (Dances With Wolves). He has also been a familiar face on US Network television for over 20 years with roles on shows such as NYPD Blue, NCIS LA, 24 and Without A Trace.
