In this Adobe Authorised Training, students will learn all the main features of Adobe’s video editing software from capturing video and importing tapeless media to creating dynamic titles, adding video effects, mixing audio and managing a project. Then take it to the next level by creating efficiency in your editing projects as well as colour correction, exporting sequences and authoring DVDs.

Each student will receive the official Adobe Premiere Pro course manual and an Adobe certificate of completion.

SIPTU and Screen Training Ireland are holding a Manual Handling training course on Tuesday 15th April 2014.
Under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 4, Part 2, employers are required to provide training to employees who carry out Manual Handling tasks. Definition of Manual Handling: “any transporting or supporting of any load by one or more employees, and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load, which by reason of its characteristics or unfavorable ergonomic conditions, involves risk, particularly of back injury, to employees”.

On completion of this training programme attendees will have an understanding of the kinetics of lifting, understand the risk of poor manual handling techniques and understand the importance of manual handling risk assessments. The Manual Handling programme is approximately 3 ½ hours in duration. Attendees should wear flat comfortable footwear and comfortable trousers that are not too tight.

This course is for Riggers, Stagehands, Prop Masters, Painters, Plasterers, Carpenters, Electricians and anyone in film and television production who requires Manual Handling training.

Interested in Screenwriting? Taught by experienced screenwriter Lindsay Sedgwick, this courses gives an excellent grounding in the basics: an introduction to the craft of screenwriting, developing character, writing the individual scene, dialogue, structure, format, writing for TV, writing comedy, rewriting techniques and writing treatments.

Lindsay Sedgwick is a versatile and imaginative writer with over seven hours’ credits for TV and film work. Her latest series Punky was launched on RTE, Ireland’s national broadcaster, in May 2011 to national and international acclaim. The series went on sale at Mipcom Jr and secured several international territories.

Lindsay is a screenwriting tutor, script consultant and reader for independent producers, a graduate of Screen Training Ireland’s ‘Writing Animation’, 2003 and attended Moonstone in 2002. She was a scholar at New York University ‘Gregory Peck Scriptwriting Course’, Dublin, graduating with AA distinction: 1993. She has an MA Screenwriting from Leeds Metropolitan University in 1999 and a BA in Communication Studies from Dublin City University.

This seminar is aimed producers focusing on the development of original Formats for Television, across all genres.

The seminar will explore the following topics:

  • Ideation How to generate good ideas that could become TV formats. Ideation looks at the psychology of creativity, offers a variety of techniques to apply that creativity to the generation of relevant TV-oriented ideas, and applies different narratives to those ideas to tell a story in different ways.
  • Turning Ideas into Formats How to take good ideas and turn them into great formats. We explore and apply a unique system developed by The Format People to focus and clarify the heart of an idea, and develop it into a practical working format with potential international appeal.
