mega plus is a nine month, project-based master’s programme that provides specialised training in audiovisual company management and content production. SIPTU and Screen Training Ireland are holding a Manual Handling training course on Tuesday 15th April 2014.
Under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, Chapter 4, Part 2, employers are required to provide training to employees who carry out Manual Handling tasks. Definition of Manual Handling: “any transporting or supporting of any load by one or more employees, and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying or moving a load, which by reason of its characteristics or unfavorable ergonomic conditions, involves risk, particularly of back injury, to employees”.

On completion of this training programme attendees will have an understanding of the kinetics of lifting, understand the risk of poor manual handling techniques and understand the importance of manual handling risk assessments. The Manual Handling programme is approximately 3 ½ hours in duration. Attendees should wear flat comfortable footwear and comfortable trousers that are not too tight.

This course is for Riggers, Stagehands, Prop Masters, Painters, Plasterers, Carpenters, Electricians and anyone in film and television production who requires Manual Handling training.
