Douglas Street Campus, (formerly St Johns Central College), now part of the new Cork College of F.E.T, is situated in a state-of-the-art building in the heart of Cork city.

It is designed for students and teachers alike to maximize the delivery of high-quality training. This ultra modern college was the first wireless broadband and Further Education purpose designed complex to be built in Ireland.

The Film and TV Department, in its 29th year, has grown exponentially. It delivers a vibrant program over two years at both level 5 and level 6, always maintaining an ambitious vision for its students who wish to compete effectively in the Film, TV and media industries, at both national and international level. Module content ranges from digital film production, TV production, directing, camera/lighting, screenplay writing, photography, producing, documentary, editing and art direction to studio & location sound production.

On successful completion of the level 6 QQI award, students can progress to the final year BA film program in Brighton Screen and Film school and the second year of the film BA in the BIMM institute, Berlin. Students can also progress to the BA in film (final year) in Sunderland University and some specialist programs such as post –production (second year) in Solent university in Southampton, the M.A in postproduction in Newport, and the M.A in Scriptwriting in Bournemouth University. There are also progression links to the National Film School, IADT, GMIT, LIT, and UCC in Ireland.

Students often also advance directly into many different areas of Film, TV and media vocational area as e.g., content creators, editors, independent directors etc., The Film and TV dept., staff body are comprised of specialized trainers who maintain links with the film and television industry.

The campus has a purpose-built TV studio, (regularly updated to reflect changing industry requirements), a sound studio, and state of the art dedicated location film cameras, sound and lighting kits. Its post-production facilities include up to date software (e.g., Adobe Premiere/ Rush, After affects, Final cut pro, Logic pro all delivered on the apple platform).

Students annually participate in two weeks of work experience at level 5 and 6 in various roles, in various media related companies e.g., TV Stations, film production companies, postproduction companies, multimedia/advertising businesses etc.  

Job opportunities include TV stations, film production, advertising, multimedia, animation, content creation companies.

Career pathways include work as freelance sound designers, music and picture editors, production designers, directors, location sound recorders, researchers, stills photographers, writers and film reviewers

Students and graduates have been successful in screening work produced on the course and after graduation, often winning awards at many international film festivals.

 The Film and TV program alumni include directors/writers Damian McCarthy; Caveat, Writer Kevin Lehane; Grabbers, Writer/Director Peter Foott;  TV series Young offenders. Documentary director and DOP ED Godsell: The road to Moneygall.
