Storyland 2024
Applications are now open for the 2024 round of the award-winning short drama series Storyland, supported by RTÉ and Screen Ireland.

Storyland has become a springboard for Irish writing, directing, producing, and acting talent throughout the island of Ireland to develop their careers. The scheme is designed to create opportunities for new talent to pitch, develop and produce unique dramas.

Storyland short dramas are broadcast on RTÉ2 as well as RTÉ Player, providing a wide platform for new drama talent and increased funding for these original Irish drama commissions.

RTÉ and Screen Ireland are seeking to commission eight scripts, working closely with script writers and producers on their development. Writers from the worlds of television, film, theatre, advertising, literature, documentary, and journalism are being sought, whether they have written for television or film before or not.

Of the eight dramas developed, three single dramas of 25 minutes duration will be commissioned for production.

Storyland is committed to ensuring diversity and an equal gender balance across all key creative positions and to being inclusive when considering the make-up of each team.

David Crean, Acting Head of Drama, RTÉ said:

“Storyland has gone from strength to strength on RTÉ2 and The Player, attracting more viewers than ever. In 2023 we were treated to three wonderful dramas, with brilliant directors working with excellent scripts. Storyland continues to be a great way to discover and nurture new voices with original stories for television. We are delighted that Storyland has become an essential ramp for emerging drama talent to showcase their abilities, and we’re delighted to continue this work with our partners in Screen Ireland."

Keith Potter, Head of Film, Screen Ireland, added:

“Screen Ireland is delighted to partner with RTÉ again on this year's Storyland: a scheme that continues to put new and emerging voices in front of Irish audiences. We're looking forward to the next round of submissions, and the stories that will come out of them."
