Cinema Round-Up: ‘I Am Not a Serial Killer’ leads titles hitting the big screen this weekend

'I Am Not a Serial Killer' directed by Billy O'Brien
Billy O’Brien’s supernatural thriller has garnered attention for its strong cast and compelling storyline throughout its festival run this year, and begins its cinema run at home from today, Friday December 9th.

International titles featuring Irish talent this week include ‘Jet Trash’ with Robert Sheehan (Love/Hate) while ‘Bleed for This’ which is currently screening also sees Ciarán Hinds in a supporting role.

‘Kill Ratio’ starring Irish talent Amy Huberman (Striking Out) is not releasing to Irish cinemas this weekend but is becoming available on iTunes from Tuesday, December 13th.

The title from Irish Director O’Brien sees Max Records (Where the Wild Things Are) star alongside ‘Back to the Future’ legend Christopher Lloyd as a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies. He struggles with fighting his own violent impulses while hunting down a threat to the Midwestern town they share.

Post production on ‘I Am Not a Serial Killer’ was completed by Dublin-based Egg Post Production. Bulldog Distributions distributes in Ireland.

Jet Trash
Charles Henri Belleville (No Heroes) directs Robert Sheehan (Love/Hate) as one of two friends living a bohemian lifestyle on an Indian beach. When a holy cow accidentally gets killed and a girl returns from their past, the pair struggle to get out of trouble with the locals.

‘Jet Trash’ is distributed in Ireland by SUMS Film & Media Ltd.

Birth of a Nation
Writer/Director Nate Parker’s historical drama follows Nat Turner (also played by Parker), a literate slave and preacher in the South, who prompts an uprising against white supremacy.

‘Birth of a Nation’ is distributed in Ireland by 20th Century Fox.

Snowden
Joseph Gordon Levitt stars as the titular character in this thriller from Oliver Stone (Mi Amigo Hugo), based on the true events of Edward Snowden’s leaking of NSA’s illegal surveillance techniques to the public and the press.

‘Snowden’ is distributed in Ireland by Open Road Films.

Office Christmas Party
‘Friends’ actress Jennifer Anniston stars in this seasonal comedy from Josh Gordon and Will Speck as the uptight CEO whose staff organise a rebellious Christmas party which gets out of hand.

‘Office Christmas Party’ is distributed in Ireland by Entertainment One.

The Pass
Ben A. Williams’ drama follows football stars and friends Jason and Ade, whose relationship is changed when one makes a pass at the other.

‘The Pass’ is distributed in Ireland by Lionsgate.

Life, Animated
Academy Award Winner Roger Ross Williams directs this documentary following the impact of Disney movies on a young boy, who learns to communicate with others and understand the world around him by identifying with animated characters.

‘Life, Animated’ is distributed in Ireland by Dogwoof.

Kill Ratio (iTunes release)
Paul Tanter’s action title stars Irish talent Amy Huberman, who also stars in the upcoming RTÉ series ‘Striking Out’, due to air in early 2017. ‘Kill Ratio’ follows an American covert operative as following an attack on the President of a new Eastern European democracy, struggling with political and military conflict.

‘Kill Ratio’ is releasing to iTunes on Tuesday, December 13th.
