Mind the Gap Films DAC

Bill Hughes and Bernadine Carraher set up Mind the Gap Films in 2001. The company specialises in television entertainment, music, documentaries and factual-entertainment programming. We regularly work on large-scale productions with budgets over €1 million. And we regularly win awards.

We have produced programmes and series for all broadcasters on the island of Ireland – RTE1, RTE2, Virgin Media (previously TV3), TG4 and BBCNI. We have also produced five major music specials for PBS in the US in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the Czech Republic.

We have vast experience of live and pre-recorded Outside Broadcast both on location and in studio. Our track record is strong in acquiring funding through the BAI’s Sound & Vision Fund and the Section 481 Tax Incentive Scheme.

Mind the Gap Films specialises in creating and producing home-grown original formats and have achieved ratings successes with IFTA-award winning series “Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge”, currently in its fifth series and IFTA-nominated “Lords & Ladles” currently in its third series. “Lords & Ladles” has achieved international popularity and is currently on air in 5 territories and streaming on Netflix. Our formats have been distributed by Fremantle and Nordic World.

Currently in production: ‘Brendan O’Connor’s Cutting Edge, Series 5’, ‘Lords & Ladles, Series 3’ and ‘Healthy Appetite’ – a brand new Mind the Gap Films format featuring the country’s top chefs competing to make their decadent signature dishes healthier.

We are always interested in international co-productions, so please get in touch if you’d like to work together. Please note, we do not accept unsolicited submissions of proposals or programme ideas from the public.
