Voting is now open for the British National Television Awards 2017 and there is plenty of Irish talent featured throughout the categories of nominations.
Irish nominee’s include Brendan O’Carroll’s ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ which is nominated for Best Comedy and is up against other popular shows such as ‘The Big Bang Theory’, ‘Benidorm’ and Netflix’s ‘Orange Is The New Black’.
‘Cold Feet’ starring Antrim native James Nesbitt is nominated for Best Drama along with ‘Game Of Thrones’ which is also filmed in several locations across Northern Ireland. Other contenders in the category include ‘Happy Valley’, ‘The Night Manager’ and BBC’s ‘Casualty’.
In the Best Period Drama there are two Irish actor nominations for ‘Poldark’ starring Aidan Turner and ‘Peaky Blinders’ with Cillian Murphy who is also nominated for Best Drama Performance for his role of Tommy Shelby in the show.
Other contenders for Best Period Drama include Netflix’s award-winning show ‘Stranger Things’, BBC’s ‘Call The Midwife’ and ‘Victoria’ starring Jenna Coleman who is also nominated for Best Drama Performance of her portrayal of Queen Victoria.
Graham Norton is included in the nominations for Best Entertainment Programme for ‘The Graham Norton Show’. He will be up against Rufus Hound’s ‘Celebrity Juice’, Alex Brooker’s ‘The Last Leg’ and ‘Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’.
Voting is now open for the British National Television Awards 2017 which will be shown on ITV on January 25th at 7.30pm. IFTN wish all Irish talent nominated the best of luck.
