Crime drama Kin will begin streaming on Netflix in Ireland and the UK from May 1st.
The first season of the Irish crime series will make its Netflix debut in Ireland and the UK on May 1st. The series was bought by the BBC late last year after BRON Studios filed for bankruptcy.
Written, created, and executive produced by Peter McKenna (The Last Kingdom, Red Rock), Kin follows the Kinsellas, a local crime family in Dublin in a gang war with global organisation, the Cunningham cartel. The cast features Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Clare Dunne (Mud Queen), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (The Dry), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander), and Francis Magee (Layer Cake).
The recent second season of the series has 11 IFTA nominations, spanning Best Drama, Best Director - Drama (Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, Kate Dolan), Best Script - Drama (McKenna), Best Lead Actor - Drama (Magee, Keeley), Best Lead Actress - Drama (Dunne), Best Supporting Actor - Drama (Gillen, Scanlan), Best Supporting Actress - Drama (Maria Doyle Kennedy), and Best Cinematography (JJ Rolfe).
The second season accumulated over 1 million streams on RTÉ Player, and the series as a whole has garnered over 4 million streams on the national broadcaster’s streaming platform as a whole.
In regards to a potential third season, an RTÉ spokesperson said: "All the partners are in discussions about a third series but there is nothing to announce at the moment."
Kin will begin streaming on Netflix in Ireland and the UK from May 1st.
