Applications for Series Co-Productions Pilot Programme to open in March

Ireland-New Zealand co-production The Gone
The Council of Europe is running a three-year Series Co-Productions Pilot Programme, in association with Screen Ireland, with the aim of supporting independent producers and cultivating new collaborations across Europe.

The Council of Europe introduced the Series Co-Productions Pilot Programme in 2023. The aim of the three-year programme is to support television series structured as international co-productions.

Screen Ireland have invested a total of €900,000 over a three-year period. Fifteen other ministries and national agencies across European member states are also financially backing this new opportunity for series producers.

Dates for the next call for projects have been announced as follows. 

  • Application submission window: 4th March 2024 - 9th April 2024, 5pm (Paris time)
  • Evaluation period: April-June 2024
  • Information to applicants: June 2024
  • Signature of grant agreements: June-December 2024

Irish producers and production companies will be eligible to apply from 4th March 2024 through the Council of Europe's website. The programme, implemented by Eurimages, is a top-up grant designed to assist in the late-stage financing of series co-productions between independent producers based in the countries participating in the programme with those in the geographical area of Eurimages member states, in strong collaboration with broadcasters or streaming services. The series can be a drama, documentary, or animation project.

The Council of Europe Pilot Programme for Series Co-Productions is also supported by Flemish Minister of Media, Le Ministère de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Ministry of Culture Estonia, Ministry of Culture of the Hellenic Republic, National Film Institute - Hungary, Luxembourg Film Fund, Netherlands Film Fund, Ministry of Culture of North Macedonia, Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual - Portugal, Ministry of Culture of Republic of Serbia, Ministry of Culture of Slovak Republic, Ministry of Culture of Republic of Slovenia and Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA)- Spain.
