The Galway-based producer of Magameda is one of fifty-two producers representing forty-two countries in the scheme from the European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs.
The Producers Workshop will launch in Luxembourg in partnership with the Luxembourg Film Fund. The year-long programme will hone participants’ skills in production and co-production in Europe, with workshops on script analysis, development and production financing, legal aspects of co-production, marketing, pitching, packaging and more.
Three intensive training weeks are scheduled in Luxembourg (March 2nd–9th), Lodz (June 16th-26th) and Copenhagen (23rd-30th) throughout the year.
Paddy Hayes, Magamedia:
"Previous Irish participants in EAVE are quite evangelical about how beneficial the workshop has been to them, so I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into it next week in Luxembourg. I am participating with a new feature film project entitled Natural Selection written by Ray Lawlor, a juicy psychological thriller set in contemporary Dublin. Apart from the project development workshops throughout the year, the final EAVE session gets you across the table from key funders and decision makers, so it's a great opportunity to open doors and reach out to potential co-producers with this and other projects."
“2017 will see Magamedia produce a new documentary biopic on acclaimed musician Noel Hill, and also a 6 part series on Irish fashion design entitled Snáithe, both for TG4 and the BAI. MEDIA have supported the development of our new feature documentary co-production with Germany entitled 'Leaning into the Wind', and we recently received development funding from the Irish Film Board for a feature documentary on Mississippi songwriter John Murry - 'A Short History of Decay'. We are looking at EAVE as a great opportunity to develop more work of scale with international co-production potential."
