OFFline Film Festival has announced its second 6 month Animation Residency, which will kick off in May, culminating in a premiere of the work created at OFFline Film Festival in October 2019.
Up to three animators will get the chance to spend 6 months working in Birr on their latest passion project. The Hot Seat scheme encompasses accommodation, a stipend and studio space with industry standard software and hardware provided. The animators will receive ongoing mentoring, as well as visual and audio post-production services, from award-winning digital studio Piranha Bar. This exciting opportunity is open to animators working individually, or to dynamic duos (or even trios!) planning to collaborate on a project.
Speaking about the initiative, OFFline Film Festival Director Gary Hoctor told IFTN:
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Animators who have already graduated a couple of years ago to take the next step in their career and move onto establishing their name in the Animation Industry. It is a great stepping stone for professionals who might be thinking of setting out on their own. This Residency affords them the headspace, office space and financial safety net to dip their toe into the world of creative entrepreneurship.”
Last year saw Jack O’Shea and Dashiell Silva visit Birr for the first time where they both found the town to be very conducive to their creative endeavours.
