Filming is underway in Dublin on John Carney’s upcoming musical comedy, Power Ballad, starring Rudd and Jonas.
Paul Rudd (Ant-Man franchise) and Nick Jonas (Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle) will star in Power Ballad, a musical comedy from director John Carney (Sing Street). Filming has begun in Dublin on the project that will be selling at the Cannes market later month.
Power Ballad follows “the story of a wedding singer (Rudd), a rock star (Jonas), and the song that comes between them”.
Carney and Peter McDonald (The Stag) co-wrote the screenplay. Carney will also produce, along with Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron (Likely Story), and Robert Walpole and Rebecca O’Flanagan (Treasure Entertainment), all of whom produced Flora and Son. 30WEST and Screen Ireland will finance and executive produce the film.
“I’m delighted to be working with so many great people,” said Carney. “I’ve been working on this script with my buddy Peter for years, and now Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are in my kitchen.”
Carney’s latest film Flora and Son received six IFTA nominations earlier this year, including Best Film.
