‘Daria’, the new Irish feature film by writer/director Colin Downey, received further awards recognition last week at the Accolade Global Film Competition in San Diego California.
The Accolade Awards are hailed by Moviemaker Magazine as one of America's top twenty five film festivals.
'Accolade' chairman Rick Prickett said "We receive entries from powerhouse companies around the world such as Disney, Ron Howard productions and HighWire films Australia. We also seek out remarkable new talent who set the standards for craft and creativity and ‘Daria’ is an exceptional achievement from director Colin Downey and his remarkably talented cast. We're delighted to present a prestigious Award of Merit to this outstanding production”.
‘Daria’ has also been honored this week with a Silver Award at the International Independent Film Awards in Encino, California. Festival organizer William Johnson said "We would like to applaud the talented creative team behind Daria and congratulate them on their accomplishments. Special mention should be given to actress Natalia Cullen in what is amazingly her first screen role".
‘Daria’ has previously won awards at Nevada and Mexico Festivals and writer/director Colin Downey has also recently won first prize in a top category in The Los Angeles Screenplay Competition for his new film ‘Brave Tin Soldier’.
