One of the highlights of this year’s Clones Film Festival (27-30 October) will be a special appearance by acclaimed director Julien Temple.
Temple is best known for feature films include the iconic musicals The Great Rock'n'Roll Swindle, Absolute Beginners and Earth Girls Are Easy, and documentaries Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten, London The Modern Babylon, and The Filth & The Fury - the official selection at both the Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.
Dramatic feature films include Pandaemonium with Samantha Morton, Linus Roache, and Andy Serkis, selected as the Gala film at the Toronto Film Festival, Bullet with Mickey Rourke, Adrian Brody, and Tupac Shakur, and Vigo: A Passion For Life about inspirational director Jean Vigo.
Temple is considered one of the pioneers of the music video as an art form, directing the world’s most successful artists: David Bowie, The Kinks, Neil Young, Janet Jackson, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, to name but a few, and concert films for The Sex Pistols and The Rolling Stones.
Recent films include Crock of Gold – A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan, which won the Jury prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival and he is currently working with producer Jeremy Thomas to develop the dramatic feature film ‘You Really Got Me’, the story of The Kinks and the brilliant love/hate sibling creative force behind the legendary band.
Julien Temple will attend a screening of Crock of Gold – A Few Rounds with Shane McGowan on Saturday, 29 October at 1pm in Clones Courthouse and participate in a Q&A afterwards.
