The Northern Irish actor will star opposite Anthony Mackie in the project directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead.
Mackie and Dornan are to play two New Orleans paramedics whose lives are ripped apart after a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug with bizarre, otherworldly effects.
Moorhead and Benson, the duo behind ‘The Endless’ and ‘Spring’, announced the casting, stating: "Being huge fans of the nuanced, brilliant work of Anthony and Jamie, this is a filmmaker’s wildest dream come true. They each possess an extraordinary depth of personal experiences, humour, and pathos that brings a massive wellspring of humanity to the battle-scarred partnership being portrayed.”
The announcement has come at the end of a busy period for the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ star, as his latest film ‘A Private War’ starring Rosamund Pike bowed at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this month. Dornan will also appear in the TV movie ‘My Dinner With Herve’ and fantasy blockbuster ‘Robin Hood’ in late 2018.
David Lawson Jr will produce ‘Synchronic’ for Rustic Films alongside Moorhead and Benson. A release date is not yet known for the feature film.
