Joanna Hogg’s latest film The Eternal Daughter will be released in cinemas across Ireland and the UK on October 27th 2023 by BFI Distribution.
Tilda Swinton, who has worked with Hogg since her debut feature Caprice and mostly recently on her Souvenir films, stars in the film in two leading roles. The film will feature in a Joanna Hogg retrospective season at BFI Southbank (Oct. 16th - Nov. 30th) and release on BFI Blu-ray on January 22nd 2024. The film was released in the US on December 2nd, 2022.
The Eternal Daughter follows an artist and her elderly mother confront long-buried secrets when they return to a former family home, now a hotel haunted by its mysterious past. The supporting cast includes Carly-Sophia Davies (Spring Awakening, Midsomer Murders) and Joseph Mydell (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, The Son).
This film continues the collaboration of director Joanna Hogg, Tilda Swinton and executive producer Martin Scorsese, the trio having worked previously on The Souvenir and The Souvenir Part II.
Hogg is also a producer on the project, along with Ed Guiney, Emma Norton and Andrew Lowe. Rose Garnett joins Scorsese as executive producer, and Eimhear McMahon is the co-producer.
The Eternal Daughter is an Element Pictures production with the support of A24, BBC Film, JWH Films and Sikelia Productions.
