The latest feature film from ‘Room’ helmer Lenny Abrahamson stars Domnhall Gleeson, Charlotte Rampling, Ruth Wilson and Will Poulter, and is set to film over the Summer in the UK.
It was announced earlier this month, Pathé International has also struck a deal on the project, and is still to distribute in the UK, France and Switzerland.
As is the case with Emma Donoghue’s ‘Room’, Abrahamson is again bringing an adapted work to the big screen, this time with ‘The Danish Girl’ screenwriter Lucinda Coxon working from a novel by Sarah Waters.
Ed Guiney, Andrea Calderwood and Gail Egan are producing, with Andrew Lowe, Cameron McCracken of Pathé, Daniel Battsek of Film4, Tim O’Shea of Ingenious Media and Celine haddad of the IFB as executive producers.
‘The Little Stranger’ is a WWII supernatural drama focusing on a doctor working in a haunted estate when a parlourmaid falls ill.
Peter Kujawski, Chairman, Focus Features:
“We’re thrilled to be working with Lenny, a filmmaker who has proven to redefine every genre he takes on. We are excited to be partnering once again with our good friends at Pathé and Film4 on ‘The Little Stranger’, a classic ghost story to chill moviegoers.”
