Derval O’Rourke Returns to ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ for New 2017 Series
10 May 2017 :
Ireland's Fittest Family 2016 Winners
‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ is back for a fifth series Irish Olympic hurdler, Derval O’Rourke, is to return to the coaching panel after a two year break.

‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ is back for a fifth series Irish Olympic hurdler, Derval O’Rourke, is to return to the coaching panel after a two year break.

Derval previously appeared in Series 2 of the show in which she coached the Kingstons from Co. Cork to victory.

I’m really excited to be coming back to Ireland’s Fittest Family. The last time I was on the show I came first and second so there’s a lot pressure on me to come back and do well. I want to win,” she said.

Derval joins veteran IFF coach, hurling legend, Davy Fitz, who has appeared in all five series of the show and last year’s winning coach and fellow Corkonian, camogie star, Anna Geary.

This marks the first time ever that two female sportspeople have ever been on the coaching panel of the show.

The identity of the fourth coach will be revealed at a later date.

Since exploding onto our screens in 2014, ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ has seen four families take home the title; the O’Reillys from Co. Cavan, the Kingstons from Co. Cork, the O’Brien Devines from Co. Waterford and last years Cummins family from Co. Tipperary.

Animo & Kite Entertainment who produce ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ as a co-production for RTÉ are still on the look out for families to apply for this years show.

Does your family have what it takes to be this year’s winner and take home a prize €15,000?

The search is on throughout the country to find the fittest, fastest and strongest families Ireland has to offer.

Hosted by Mairead Ronan, Ireland’s Fittest Family is one of TV’s most exciting and extreme fitness competition.
