‘Dracula Untold’, the debut feature of Dublin-born director Gary Shore, has truly sunk its teeth into the box office. According to boxofficemojo.com, the film has made $55,725,500 in the US box office and $153,100,000 across other territories, making a total of $208,825,500 in total worldwide receipts. It is one of the highest ever grossing films with an Irish director at the helm.
On its opening weekend, the film made over $20m in the North American box office, ranked second across 2885 theatres.
The vampire origins story is showing in over 60 territories across the globe. Venezuela will be the last market in which the film will be released on this Friday on November 21st.
‘Dracula Untold’ stars Luke Evans as Vlad Tepes, a strong warrior who chooses to become a vampire to protect his family and his kingdom from the invader, Mehmed, played by Dominic Cooper. The film co-stars Sarah Gadon and Charles Dance, with Irish cast members including Diarmuid Murtagh and Art Parkinson.
The fantasy-action film was shot on location in Northern Ireland with a budget of $70m.
The film is written by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless and Mark Bomback, and produced by Michael de Luca. Alissa Phillips and Joe Caracciolo are executive producers.
‘Dracula Untold’ was released in Ireland last October with its Irish premiere held in aid of St. Francis Hospice. Cast members Luke Evans and Sarah Gadon as well as director Gary shore were in attendance.
