vStream’s Vocal Apps Win Big At Appy Awards

Dublin-based digital media specialist The vStream Group was celebrating this week after its social media and mobile agency, Vocal, celebrated its first birthday by sweeping the boards at The Appy Awards 2012.

Vocal’s So Mobile! app won Gold for Best Business/Recruitment and Silver for Best Social Media, and its The Bavaria City Racing app won Gold for Best Event and Silver for Best Sport respectively.

The vStream Group, of which vStream digital media, a video and software production company is a member, launched Vocal, a specialist agency for social media and mobile marketing, just last year.

The So Mobile! app, which was launched earlier this year, is a social media and mobile tracking tool to help marketing managers and SMEs monitor their brands against their competitors across the most popular social media and mobile platforms. The app gathers intelligence on competitors across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the App Store allowing brands to react in real time as well as keep up to date with all the latest social media and mobile news.

The Bavaria City Racing app was created to build awareness and promote ticket sales to the Bavaria City Racing Event, which was held in Dublin last June. It allowed those attending the event to find their way to key points using an interactive map, enter competitions through a social media integrated quiz game and keep up to date with all the latest in Formula 1 news. The app was fully content managed allowing the client to update the content instantly and increasing relevancy and stickiness of the app.

Vocal’s selling point in a competitive market place is its in-depth knowledge of the relationship between social and mobile and its ability to combine both to create mobile apps that resonate with the user and are eminently sharable. Vocal was founded in November 2011, and in a short period of time has won social media and mobile accounts for BMW, MINI, Dulux, Stena.

Nathalie Heugas, the director of strategy for Vocal, said of the win: “With over 300 entries to the Appy’s including international mobile apps such as Sky News and Hailo, it felt like the calibre of entries this year had risen dramatically. With mobile apps increasingly on the agenda for brands this is a hugely exciting time for Vocal and it was a real privilege to be recognised alongside some of the best in the industry.”
