IFTA-winning actors Aiden Gillen (Love/Hate) and Ruth McCabe (Single-Handed) have been cast in ‘Parked’ screenwriter Ciaran Creagh’s debut film as a director, which will begin shooting in Dublin on July 7.
The short, entitled ‘The Note’, will star Gillen as the lead male character who has lost his way through alcoholism and is now trying to reconnect with life through his eight-year-old son, who he doesn’t really know. McCabe will play the mother of Gillen’s character who is trying to support her son in getting his life back on track.
Other Irish stars set to feature in the short include Tracy Coogan (Zombie Honeymoon), Ed Cosgrave (Camelot), Jason Quinn and Mark Turley.
‘The Note’ will be produced by Simon Doyle for Fail Safe Films. Filming will take place on Dublin’s north side at locations in Glasnevin, East Wall and Blackhall Place. The shoot will last for five-days and will be shot on RED.
Owen McPolin (When Harvey Met Bob) will serve as the director of photography. June Patricia Monk is on costume design; Madonna McNamee on hair and make-up; Liam Ryan is the first assistant director, and Dave Newcombe is on sound.
A decision on where post-production on the short will take place has yet to be made, however ‘The Note’ will be edited by Dermot Diskin (Stella Days). Creagh is self-funding the short, which he plans to screen on the festival circuit.
