Productions emerging from Dublin based post-production facility Screen Scene are synonymous with quality. Screen Scene completed full picture and sound post production on the first series of HBO’s epic fantasy hit Series ‘Game of Thrones’. The series was nominated for a 13 Primetime Emmy nominations, including nods for Outstanding Special Visual Effects and Outstanding Sound Editing. Screen Scene’s purpose built VFX area The Scullery was host to the massive fantasy production and home to the team of artists including Screen Scene VFX Supervisor Ed Bruce and VFX Producer Sarah Mooney.

Finishing editor Warren Dowling and colourist Gary Curran helped create the subtle palettes and tones of the Seven Kingdoms, from Winterfell to Kings Landing.

“This has been a fantastic experience for us, taking on and delivering a show of this size is no mean feat,” said Jim Duggan MD at Screen Scene, “Everyone from front of house to the back rooms behind the back rooms should be very proud of the work that’s going on here and their part in it. We have received tremendous support from co-producer Greg Spence and Associate producer Jon Brytus and the whole HBO infrastructure, it really is a team effort and one of our best post experiences.”

The sound team who brought the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros to life include Supervising sound editor Stefan Hendrix who led a team including Niall Brady, Jon Stevenson, Peter Blayney, Michelle Fingleton, Michelle McCormack, Steve Fanagan and Fiadhnait McCann. Foley was done by Ardmore Sound team Caoimhe Doyle and Jean McGrath at the Ardmore Sound Stage. Alan Collins co-ordinated sound on behalf of Screen Scene and ensured the mixing team of Mark Taylor and Garret Farrell had everything they needed in The Centre Stage – Screen Scene’s powerful TV and feature mixing room.

Screen Scene and Ardmore Sound are also behind the full picture and sound post production for Irish box-office smash ‘The Guard’. Set against a Connemara backdrop, the film follows unlikely buddy cop duo Sgt. Gerry Boyle (Brendan Gleeson) and FBI agent Wendell Everett (Don Cheadle). The team at Screen Scene behind ‘The Guard’ was Gary Curran (Grading), Warren Dowling (DI Finishing) and Niall Brady (Sound Designer). ‘The Guard’, distributed by Element Pictures Distribution, is Ireland’s largest grossing Irish film since Ken Loach’s ‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley’ in 2006.

Screen Scene’s finishing touches can also be seen on upcoming releases, including Tom Hall’s lonely farmer-meets-prostitute flick ‘Sensation’, which will be released by Element Pictures Distribution in Ireland on October 14th. The presence of the post-production facility will also be felt at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival. Tony Cranston edited Ian Fitzgibbon’s Irish/German co-production ‘Death of a Superhero’ at Screen Scene. VFX for Glenn Close’s ‘Albert Nobbs’, which will also have its world premiere at Toronto, was also done at Screen Scene, with Niall Brady supervising the sound mix at the Ardmore Sound stage.
