IFTN can confirm that Irish director Gary Shore has signed on to direct the Universal remake of Matt Osterman’s ‘Phasma Ex Machina’, with the remake being provisionally titled ‘Our House’. Gary Shore (Cup of Tears) is at the helm of the new remake, with Nathan Parker attached to pen the script.
Produced by John Davis and Nick Spicer of XYZ Films, The film centres on a young man who is forced to raise his little brother following the untimely death of their parents. He invents a machine that allows him to travel between realms of life and death at a great cost to both himself and those around him.
It is rumoured that Shore landed the gig on the back of his short film ‘Cup of Tears’ which he and Nathan Parker are developing into a feature length project. ‘Cup of Tears’ is a live action version of a Japanese animation that was picked up by UK company Working Title Films and Universal Studios to be developed into a large scale feature film.
Shore is expected to complete ‘Phasma ex Machina’ and a possible adaptation of James Patterson’s ‘Maximum Ride’ before helming the feature version of ‘Cup of Tears’.
