Irish Director John Moore (Behind Enemy Lines, Flight of the Phoenix, Max Payne) is to reveal the secrets of his global box office successes in IFTA’s upcoming Directing Masterclass.
John Moore began his career in photography and working as a camera assistant, before a few notable short films, music videos and commercials led to a career directing Hollywood blockbusters. In the IFTA Masterclass, Moore will give his perspective on the development process in the studio system, directing action sequences and advice to filmmakers working outside of Ireland.
The Dundalk born director rose to fame in Hollywood after directing a string of high profile 20th Century Fox features, beginning with ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ starring Gene Hackman and Owen Wilson. Other credits on the director’s action-packed resumé include ‘Flight of the Phoenix’, ‘The Omen’ re-boot, US box office topper ‘Max Payne’ and his current project ‘The Edge’. John’s movies have grossed a third of a billion dollars in the worldwide box office and he heads up a LA based production company Point Road.
The 90 minute Masterclass is FREE and exclusive to Members of the Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA). The event takes place Wednesday 24th August in Dublin.
