Modeled on the annual ‘Comic Con’ held in the US, Ireland’s Movie Fest will showcase films and exclusive footage from upcoming blockbusters. Taking place on August 13th and 14th in Cineworld, Dublin, Movie Fest will screen previews of major Hollywood films including ‘Fright Night’, ‘The Change Up’, ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ and ’30 Minutes or Less’.

The festival will also include presentations from major Hollywood studios, which will reveal never-before-seen footage and trailers from some of the most highly anticipated films of 2011 and 2012, including material from ‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ and Steven Soderbergh’s Irish filmed actioner ‘Haywire’. Stephen Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s special video-greeting will play ahead of an exclusive four minute preview of ‘The Adventures of TinTin’, and Guillermo Del Toro has sent a greeting to introduce his latest ‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’. Also in the lineup is ‘Tower Heist’, starring Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy; footage from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and a five minute clip from the new ‘Total Recall’ film which stars Irish actor Colin Farrell.

Farrell also appears in ‘Fright Night’ which screens in the Saturday August 13th’s schedule along with Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman in ‘The Change Up’. Sunday 14th’s Movie Fest includes advance screenings of sci-fi western ‘Cowboys and Aliens’, starring Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig, and ’30 Minutes or Less’, starring Jessie Eisenberg.

Creator of Movie Fest Vincent Donnelly has commented on the new event saying he had “ taken note of how huge Comic Con has become in the US, now attracting thousands of people and the biggest stars, and wanted to try to recreate some of that excitement here. Irish audiences, among the most frequent moviegoers in the world, can sometimes be neglected when it comes to access to an all-inclusive event like this, and we wanted to make sure that while it was modeled on Comic Con, it’s a very unique event,” he continued. Donnelly promises “plenty of surprises” over the weekend with goody bags for ticket holders.
