The IFTA-winning short ‘Small Change’, has been awarded Best Foreign Short at this year’s Las Vegas Film Festival. The National Film School at IADT, Dun Laoghaire short, written and directed by Cathy Brady, was presented with the award during the festivals closing ceremony.
Tommy Fitzpatrick, the films producer has said “both Cathy and I are delighted with the win, especially considering it is our first win on US soil.”
The film follows Karen (Nora-Jane Noone - The Magdalene Sisters, The Descent), a young single mother who has become bored with routine. Slot machines have become her secret thrill and addiction. With Christmas looming, a desperate hope for a big win sees her life spiral out of control. The film also stars Tom Collins, Olivia Nash and Rozlyn Sheridan.
Cathy Brady recently completed her next short project ‘Rough Skin’ through Channel 4’s Coming Up Scheme. It aired on Channel 4 on July 11th. Tommy Fitzpatrick is currently Executive Producer on the short film ‘The Court Astronomer’, directed/produced by Alex Fegan (Man Made Men).
