IFB Sets Deadlines for Signature Shorts Scheme and Production Funding

The Irish Film Board is calling for applications to their short film scheme Signatures. The closing date for applications is Friday September 9th. The Signatures scheme is designed to enable the production of live-action, fiction short films and it aims to encourage strong, original storytelling, visual flair and production values appropriate to the big Screen.

Submission in Irish are encouraged in the Signatures scheme and successful short films will premiere at the Corona Cork Film Festival next year. Successful Signature shorts form last year include ‘Crossing Salween’ which was officially selected for the Berlin Film Festival and ‘Pentecost’ which was officially selected for the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.

All Applications for the scheme should be sent with the reference REF: SIGNATURES on the envelope to: Bord Scannan na hEireann/the Irish Film Board, Queensgate, 23 Dock Road, Galway. More information can be found at the Funding Programme section of the Irish Film Board Website at www.irishfilmboard.ie before Friday September 9th .

In other Film Board news, the deadline for the next production funding application has been extended. The new deadline for receipt of application is close of business on Friday August 5th .

The extended deadline is in place as the IFB/BSE project group will not sit until September. Normal procedures for applications still apply and producers should consult the How To Apply section on the relevant funding page on the Irish Film Board website. The deadline extension applies to application for Production Funding (Fiction Irish Production, Animation and Documentary), Creative Co-Production, Completion Funding, Regional Support Funding and Distribution Funding only.

The IFB/BSE provide loans and equity investments to Independent Irish film-makers. In 2011, the IFB/BSE has approx €16,300,000 of funding which has come from the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs and returned investments. This money will be granted in various capacities to fund development, production and distribution of Irish productions throughout 2011.
