News from the Irish short film sector - new doc 'City Wild' in production at the Phoenix Park; with Irish dramas 'Noreen' and 'Miss Remarkable and her Career' screening at International festivals.

‘City Wild’ Documentary In Production

Only two weeks of principle photography remains on Whackala Films short documentary ‘City Wild’ in the Phoenix Park, Dublin. The film is directed and produced by Leticia Agudo with fellow Whackala founder Paul McGrath (Forty Foot).

‘City Wild’ is a documentary that follows the Phoenix Park’s current and retired rangers, keepers and gardeners who live inside the 707 hectare park. The doc aims to show how these people experience the park everyday, some who have even grown up and retired in the Park. Andrey Andonov and Paul McGrath are camera operators on the project which was filmed with a HD DSLR camera. Funding for the documentary was raised through a crowd-funding initiative where over €7,000 has so far been donated to fund the project. To follow ‘City Wild’ project updates go to http://citywildthemovie.com/blog/

Following on from its screening at Tribeca Film Festival in April, upcoming screening include Rushes Soho, Sao Paulo, Rhode Island, Traverse film festivals and the International Music & Film Festival in Latvia. The film recently won Best Narrative short at the Gold Coast International Film Festival. ‘Noreen’ is funded by Film Offaly in partnership with Filmbase. It has received travel support from Culture Ireland and print provision from the Irish Film Board.
