Belfast Cinemagic Call For Entries and Young Film Consultants

The Belfast Cinemagic Festival (16 Nov – 2 Dec) is calling for submissions for the 2011 Festival ahead of the July 29th Deadline. Organisers are interested in all types of films and programmes for children and young people from pre-school through to young adult. It is a competitive festival with awards for Best Feature and Best Short film for a Teenage audience, which will be judged by a jury aged 15-18; and Best Feature and Best Short Film for Children’s audience, which will be judged by a jury of young people aged 10-14. Films made between 2009-2011 are eligible for the competition.

To enter send a DVD either in English or with English subtitles and a completed entry form to Chris Shaw, Festival Programmer, Cinemagic, 49 Botanic Avenue, Belfast BT7 1JL, Northern Ireland by July 29th. Successful entrants will be notified by 30th August 2011.

Cinemagic is also calling for 25 young film enthusiasts to take on the role of ‘film consultants’ and help select a series of films for this year’s festival. The budding film critics must be between 10 and 18 years old and will be required to take part in a three day workshop in Belfast beginning Monday July 25th to help choose the films for the festival.

Applicants should write a short letter telling Cinemagic why they would like to be a Cinemagic Young Film Consultant and a film review which they should send along with name, address, age, telephone number, email address and name/address of their school to Claire Shaw, Cinemagic, Young Consultants Programme, 49 Botanic Avenue., Belfast, BT7 1JL or emailed to Claire@cinemagic.org.uk by July 16th . The International Cinemagic Film Festival is based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was established 21 years ago and is currently the largest children’s film festival in Great Britain and Ireland. This year’s festival will take place from 16th November – 2nd December 2011 and will feature international screenings, premieres, special guests, competitions, discussions and master classes in all aspects of filmmaking.
