Mind the Gap’s pilot for ‘Adam Hills: Comically Challenged’ will be shown on BBC2 NI on Wednesday July 20th at 10pm. The 28 minute show features Australian comedian Adam Hills (Mock the Week, Spicks and Specks) as he aims to investigate the relationship between comedy and disability.
The show is produced by Anne Heffernan (The Only Viking in the Village) with Bernadine Carraher (Last of the Irish Beauty Queens) executive Producing.
‘Adam Hills: Comically Challenged’ is directed by Conor O’Mahony and was filmed in Belfast. It follows the comedian as he spends a week living with short statured actor and father of two Phil Searle to find out what is funny about his life. At the end of the week, Adam will perform a stand-up routine in front of a Belfast audience about short statured people while trying not to offend. Adam also receives help of feisty 3’6” Canadian comedian Tanyalee David whose racy comedy isn’t always well-received by her short statured peers.
Post-production on the series was done in Screen Scene, Dublin. The show will air on BBC2 NI on Wednesday 20th July at 10pm. Mind the Gap are awaiting confirmation of commission for an extended series of the ‘Comically Challenged’ concept.
Dublin based production company Mind the Gap Films are currently in production on 2x45 minute series ‘The Only Viking in the Village’ with comedian Neil Delamere and 2x50 documentary series ‘Last of the Irish Beauty Queens’.
