The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) has announced details of grants available under its Media Research Scheme 2011.
€25,000 will be made available to fund projects or projects covered by research funding Scheme 2011. The Scheme was launched in 2007 and, to date, has funded seven research projects to a total value of approximately €130,000. The objectives of the scheme are to develop and maintain links between the BAI, third-level institutions and the broadcasting sector, to drive quality research initiatives to provide a strong evidence base to the regulatory environment of the BAI’s work and to provide research that will facilitate the BAI in meeting the needs of viewers and listeners in Ireland. The Media Research Funding Scheme reflects the importance of research in guiding and planning the work of the BAI.
A number of priority research topics have been indentified in the Scheme documentation available at BAI Media Research. Submissions may also be accepted on topics not included in the list but which are relevant to informing the debate on broadcasting-related matters.
BAI Chief Executive Michael O’Keefe commented on the scheme saying ”It is a strategic goal of the BAI that it becomes a trusted and informed voice on broadcasting. Initiatives, such as the Media Research Funding Scheme, support the achievement of this goal through the delivery of significant research on key developments in broadcasting, both from a national and international perspective”.
Deadline for receipt of applications is July 29th 2011. For more information download the 2011 Media Research Scheme: Guide to Applicants and Application Form from the BAI website at BAI Media Research
