Sharon Horgan, the Irish BAFTA nominated creator of comedy series, ‘Pulling’ is currently in pre-production with a new BBC Three comedy series, ‘Life Stories’ (working title). The series is created and written by comedian Holly Walsh (All Over the Place) and Horgan who will take the show’s lead role as Helen Stephens, a woman falsely imprisoned for the murder of her boss.

The Meath born funny woman will play Helen Stephens whose incarceration is the start of a series of events; her fiancé and alibi, Justin, prefers her being in prison because he just can't face dumping her and her younger sister Laura is quite happy she's inside as she's moved into her sister’s flat and has taken her place in the pub quiz team. Moreover, Henry, the weirdo from work, is beginning to realise his weekly prison visits are the only guaranteed way to spend time with her and her lawyer, Tony, is a specialist in ‘injury at work’ claims and thinks shouting "You can't handle the truth" amounts to a convincing defence.

The 6 x 30 minute series is set to shoot in the BBC studios this summer, with Jo Sargent (Absolutely Fabulous) on board as the executive producer for the broadcaster. The show’s director is TBC. The show is set to broadcast in the autumn on BBC Three. BBC Three controller Zai Bennett announced the commissioning of the show on May 25th saying: "Making our audience laugh is one of our key aims at BBC Three. We have been the home of some of the most brilliant and innovative new comedy in recent times and we hope ‘Life Stories’ with Sharon Horgan will add to that."

Sharon began her comedy career when she jointly won the BBC New Comedy award for sketch writing in 2001 with her writing partner Dennis Kelly. She has since written and appeared in award-winning comedy shows such as ‘The Friday Night Project’, ‘Absolute Power’ and ‘The Pilot Show’, as well as the feature films, ‘Imagine Me and You’ and ‘Valiant’. She received a BAFTA Best Sitcom nomination in 2006 for ‘Pulling’ which she co-wrote with Dennis Kelly. In October 2010, she starred in the US/UK comedy ‘The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret’ and she has been announced as one of the guest hosts for the upcoming installment of the comedy panel show, ‘Have I Got News for You’.
